he moment Adrian Forty’s forensic test was dismissed by members of the Osun Election Petitions Tribunal, I was convinced that Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola was out to win the battle by hook or crook. Of course, the romance between Kunle Kalejaye and the Tribunal Chairman, Justice Thomas Naron, was instrumental to the rejection of such evidence (‘The Lies Of A Lawyer – More Call Logs Revealed,’ TheNEWS, 21 July 2008 edition).
Kunle Adeleke,
Osogbo.
Publishing advertorials in national dailies and TELL magazine was the last thing I expected Kunle Kalejaye to do. As a lawyer, a Senior Advocate for that matter, I thought he should have filed a libel suit against TheNEWS. Failure to do this is an indication that he has a great deal to hide.
Rasheed Salmon,
Ilorin.
The follow-up story by TheNEWS is enough to convince readers that the magazine is sure of its facts. I am sure that deep in his mind, Kunle Kalejaye knows that the magazine is spot on as far as this story is concerned.
Abdulmalik Ndanusa,
Bauchi.
That the Osun Tribunal went ahead to deliver judgment in favour of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola shows that the government is not sincere about its touted rule of law. A listening government ought to suspend judgment to pave way for a thorough investigation after TheNEWS magazine broke the story of the scandal emanating from the unholy romance between Oyinlola’s lawyer and the Chairman of the tribunal.
Edoja Eyirere,
Warri.
I have always known lawyers to be well at home with lies. Your recent edition titled ‘Osun Tribunal Scandal: The Lies Of A Lawyer’ has further confirmed my stand that most lawyers will rot in hell.
Mary Jolaoso,
Ibafo.
Thank you for exposing the lies of the likes of Otunba Kunle Kalejaye. God bless you for doing this wonderful job. May God continue to bless you.
Esther Idogho,
Benin.
Some people were of the view that TheNEWS merely made an allegation against the Justice Naron-led Tribunal and the lead counsel of Gov. Oyinlola in person of Otunba Kalejaye. But its follow-up edition providing records of more phone calls between the duo has revealed that the people involved in this perversion of justice cannot find anywhere to hide.

If Governor Gbenga Daniel deems it fit to check the activities of “his boys” in the state House of Assembly, so be it. Why are they running from pillar to post alleging that the governor is monitoring them? Have the Ogun State legislators forgotten that he who plays the paper calls the tune?
Gbenga Daniel sponsored them and rigged election for them to become his slaves. So let someone tell Egbetokun and his boys to learn how to become obedient and loyal servants to Daniel. To my Governor, I say keep on smiling, they are your boys.
Damilola Oguntuase,
Abeokuta.
It was clear right from the outset that the Osun Tribunal was biased when it refused to accept exhibits the AC gubernatorial candidate, Rauf Aregbesola presented to it. Otunba Kalejaye had better keep his mouth shut rather than saying things that would put him in more trouble.
Emeka Obi,
Onitsha.
Kunle Kalejaye is chasing shadows. As a Senior Advocate, I expected him to sue TheNEWS for billions of naira instead of issuing press releases and advertorials.
John Akpan,
Benin.
Otunba Kalejaye is like a drowning man holding on to a straw to save himself. Nigerians know that he could not but lie to save not only himself but his career. Still, the sad thing is that his lies will not save him. We all know the truth.
Mohammed Sanni,
Kano.
It beats my imagination why Otunba Kalejaye should lie so brazenly when it is clear that he and justice Naron exchanged phone calls. Nigerians don’t need a spiritualist to reveal the facts of this matter.
Femi Olori,
Ibadan.
The truth is that Otunba Kalejaye is nothing but a compulsive liar. Rather than his convoluted attempt to defend himself why does he not go to court to protect his name? That TheNEWS’ challenged to him to go to court shows that, indeed, there was an unholy romance between him and Justice Naron.
Efe Omonode,
Benin-City.
I didn’t find the revelation of an unholy alliance between counsel and judge at the Osun Tribunal to be strange. Midway into its proceedings, the tribunal had started taking some questionable decisions which showed that they were not being fair. The judiciary we were praising a few months back seems to have made a U-turn.
Temitope Awoniyi,
Ibadan.
After reading the story on the ‘Lies of a Lawyer’ and the edition that preceded it, I began to ask myself some questions. Could the entire episode really be true? While I cannot answer it, Kalejaye and his co-travelers can, and this is by going to the law court.
Mabel Nunu,
Sapele.
Barrister Kune Kalejaye should hide his face in shame rather than take paid advertorials on the pages of newspapers. He is a disgrace to the profession.
Timothy Jung,
Minna.
Ride on, the people’s magazine, TheNEWS. Don’t relent until all the absurdities and strange verdicts across the country are properly investigated and exposed. I believe some judges talk on phone secretly with lawyers like Kalejaye did to fix judgments. The end result is that justice is sold to the highest bidder.
Ladi Bala,
Yola.
Why did TheNEWS overlook the happenings in the Makurdi Tribunal and Jos Appeal Court? Did you see how the judges threw out the substantive matter on the altar of technicality. That way, senators David Mark, George Akume and others were able to legitimise their stolen mandates.
Please expose their call logs too.
Idoko Solomon,
Makurdi.
What did one expect of Otunba Kunle Kalejaye other than a brazen defence of his romance with an undertaker that is Justice Thomas Naron? But my joy is that the more he tries to explain away his misadventure, the more Nigerian condemns him.
Aladi Agbo,
Lagos.
I don’t expect the Nigerian Bar Association and the body that confers SANship on deserving individuals to wait for the weight of public opinion before doing the right thing – derobe Kunle Kalejaye and have him prosecuted! Otherwise, the legal profession in Nigeria may lose its credibility.
Daniel Adefuye,
Ado-Ekiti.
If the guardian who watches the fish pond steals from it, what will his cat do? Kalejaye’s conduct casts a slur on the fidelity of the so-called merit system in Nigeria, including the process leading to the award of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria rank.
The legal body responsible should remove this slur by derobing those who err.
Ikechukwu Ezenwa,
Owerri.
Kunle Kalejaye says he has formally contacted MTN and they denied disclosing the log to TheNEWS? Pray, what was Kalejaye expecting them to say? Or was he thinking that investigative journalism works so overtly? What a very laughable and feeble defence coming from a SAN!
Jude Udozor,
Lagos.
If Otunba Kunle Kalejaye is sure he is not guilty he should take TheNEWS magazine to court. His current grandstanding will not help him and Nigerians will continue to see him as a tainted lawyer.
Bello Ibn Isa,
Kano.
I must commend TheNEWS for its journalistic breakthrough. It is a matter of grave concern that the judiciary which should be the last hope of the common man now delivers justice to the highest bidder. It merely proves the point that everything has collapsed in Nigeria.
Femi Segun,
Ilorin.
It is not difficult to conclude that Kunle Kalejaiye, SAN is a deceitful lawyer. So far, he has not done anything concrete to prove his innocence. The least he could do to prove his innocence is to mandate MTN Nigeria to publish his call log. When he does that Nigerians will see him as saying the truth.
Bello Yusuf,
Bauchi.
I am convinced that Justice Thomas Naron and Otunba Kunle Kalejaiye should be tried and jailed for the shameful perversion of justice. This is the only way to discourage other negatively inclined judicial officers from toeing the duo’s line.
Ifeanyi Offodile,
Onitsha.
By the time the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, comes out with the report of its investigation, Kunle Kalejaiye’s high school bluster will become pure gas.
Aniete Umoh,
Uyo.
Kunle Kalejaiye granted TheNEWS interview. He, like a pharisee, condemned communications between a judge and lawyer to a party. Yet, he was neck deep in the same practice.
Cosmos Ejedegba,
Akure.
Kunle Kalejaiye’s advertorials, meant to dent the image of TheNEWS are nothing but a “tale by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.’
Mohammed S. Abdulkadri,
Sokoto.
