A Pathology Of Lies

July 10, 2008 12:28, 1,137 views

Definitely rattled by TheNEWS magazine’s revelations,  Kunle Kalejaiye, counsel to Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, collapses into a campaign of calumny.

By Olusola Olaosebikan

It is universally agreed that once a lie is told, many more are required to defend it. These defensive lies usually have a common pattern. A type similar to that formed by the loosely-woven stories told by Kunle Kalejaiye, early this week, following the cover story of the 14 July edition of  TheNEWS, titled The Scandal Of Judges: How Osun Tribunal Was Compromised . Kalejaiye, a controversial lawyer, and counsel to Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State, is certainly not new to mudslinging.

Those who are familiar with Kalejaiye swear he is the kind of lawyer that would prefer compromising logic to meaningful debate. This trait, they claimed, manifested colourfully in his role in the defense of Senator Iyiola Omisore during the Bola Ige murder trial. Even though Kalejaiye would readily affirm he was only answering to his legal calling, his conscience probably thought otherwise. Yet, the man boasted of his feat in that case.

But then, Kalejaiye would not like to talk about the fact that history has documented his inglorious role in the infamous trial of those suspected to have murdered Chief Bola Ige, then Attorney-General of the Federation. He would also not want to talk about the notion that his perceived landmark case against the magazine was frought with aspersions.

While others see him as a controversial element, Kalejaiye apparently prides himself in treading where others dare. A characteristic which many reckon attracts him to those who have difficult cases to present. This, they say, is the strong point in his curriculum vitae. Little wonder Kalejaiye was the annointed one when the ultimate search for who was going to handle Oyinlola’s case at the elections petitions tribunal began.

For this magazine, however, the style with which Kalejaiye operates matters less. What remains paramount is that any attempt by the lawyer to tinker with the ruling of the Osun State elections petitions tribunal will be exposed. Perhaps Kalejaiye does not know that technology has made it possible to retrieve call records, including where they are made and their destinations. In case this lawyer is yet to know, TheNEWS has offered to publish some of the details of those calls, SMSs, and their locations.

This man is in trouble. There will be no hiding place for judicial criminals because they are surpose to be God’s representatives of the oppressed, But see what the love of money has turned them to.
Let him realise this is the beginning of the end for him and his cohorts

i quite commend you on your effort ‘Thenews’; however, i don’t know what the EFCC are still waiting for. Do they still want to be ‘invited’ as they always claimed before commencing investigation iinto this matter. If it had been in a DEMOCRATIC environment because Nigeria is not, the Police do not need to be invited to investigate issues that are of public interest such as this.
Any way sha, i go keep my fingers crossed until after 15 years (like Nwosu did for June 12) before we hear the real truth about the governordhip election.
God save Nigeria from the claws of the wolves in human skin

    Cheers

God has started answering our prayers in Osun State to rescue us from all these parasites who parade themselves as leaders. The game is up for them if the story is true as claimed by The News. They desrve no honour and should be stripped off all the honours bestowed on them. May God Almighty continues to expose them and give you wisdom and strenght to continue the good work

Well, it is too early to conclude that these “wisemen” sitting on the throne of judgement in Osun State Elections Tribunal have erred. The matter need to be proven beyond any iota of doubt. Just yesterday, the Guv’s spokesman claimed that MTN, the telecomms company that purportedly logged the calls and text messaeges had debunked having such records. Until that time when this magazine and indeed other public spirited people and organizations will come up with more damning evidence, I’d like to reserve my comments. But if like the case of Buhari, the erstwhile Speaker of the House of Representatives, the case is proven, then your media will be good for a global award for investigative journalism!

A controversial lawyer with undeserve honour of SAN,it quite unfortunate that the such highest awartd of excellent perfomance in judiciary could be use compesate kunle kalejaiye by Obasanjo and his group.you will recalled that, K unle kalejaiye was the counsel to Omisore ,the man alleged to have perpetrated the murder of the chief law officer of the country,Chief Bola ige. Shortly after the case, kunle was given SAN. I am not too suprise with his romance with the justice Naron,it is business as usual.kunle will never appear as a consel to accuse before any judge unless he`s assured of victory.if am correct two judges withdrawal during bola ige case.My concern is the credibilty of nigeria judiciary.we have heard enough through dailies about the intergrity of Abdullahi umar. where else do nigerians seek redress now if not from God. God will expose and deal with those oppressors here on earth and hereafter. they will never know peace.

SAN Kunle Kalejaye is a satanic agent being used by oyinlola who is also a representative of satan. They will soon receive their own justice, God can not be mocked!.

I must commend your organisation for this giant stride in investigative journalism. I also need to remind you that you should be prepared for a series of denial and intimidation from the governor’s camp. The job of exposing these agents of manipulation has just begun, may God grant you the grace and the wisdom to carry on. This should also serve as a warning to other election riggers that the day of reckoning is here. I can only imagine what will become of our ‘honourable’ judges ………

Kudos to THENEWS magazine for their research and follow up of the election petition tribunal in osun state.i am must confess this is unfair to the nigeria judiciary. It is glaring that Gov Oyinlola never won in osun state,he only use thugs to cause chaos on the day of election, agian they want use another method to get mandate from the God sent and the special one from above.Engr.Rauf Aregbesola who will all know he won in osun state.please help us continue in your investigate cos we want true justice in the jugdement.

Kalejaiye or not what baffles me a lot is the way the tribunal are doing their jobs they made it so open that they want Oyinlola to remain there at all cost, afterall the state money is in his hand and tell me what is the difference between the state money in goverment coffer and the the one in Oyinlola’s ACCOUNT or the one in his private HOME?(i would have love to apologise to someone but the man is no more so apology means no difference). The judge has sacrificed all his reputations because of money but he should not forget THE RICH ALSO CRY AND TREMBLE. The tribunal chairman and members please get rich quick afterall u have being in the bench for long this is the first time you are being saddled with this type of appointment so make it fast.
FOR YOUR REWARD IS HERE ON EARTH.

One of the best thing to have happened after this charade called 2007 election was the resolve by all to pursue their cases in the tribunal using the best evidence available including technology, most of these riggers were caught unaware, and I am sure that these characters must think of a new way to rig in the next election. What we have gained through judiciary can never be gained from rule of might and mob action. All these political SANs are doing more damage to the legal profession than the young wig. To them, end justifies the means and their conscience is unimportant.

The lawyer is what Prof.Wole Soyinka would call ” a pathetic duplicate of a devil ” in his prison memoir titled , …And the man died. In this case, while I salute the courage of THE NEWS magazine and brilliances of their reporters, I also want to say …the man had died in who kept silent in the face of tyranny ! Please, THE NEWS must be told and don’t keep silent. Bisola Oladipo , Offa, Kwara State.

The scoundrels of this world always forget that they do not have any hide-out before God. The book of God, Holy Qur’an confirms it that Truth will always overthrow falsehood and the evil-doers will not be successful in this world and in the hereafter. Success I mean not in terms of wealth amassed by them cos, wicked people can get rich through their worldly, dubious means, but such won’t last them and will draw curtain on them in this world before they go to the land beyond. This is a good development, and a big hail to The News for such a stupendous investigative journalism and indeed a record breaker, for indeed these unchallengable evidences are enough to keep that unpatriotic Nigerian lawyer’s mouth shut for he has no bindin defence and his eyes covered for he has incurred shame to himself and the legal profession. But this is a big ‘dent’ to the legal profession and the practitioners should realise the magnitude of eyesore and every necessary legal actions meted out to him and his cohorts and unfortunately the so-called money-conscious judge.
But it is not funny, injustice seems to have become a second citizen in Nigeria!

Story like this usually demoralise me. If this kind of allegation is true, then Nigeria is finished. The reason is because, we taught we should take solace in the judiciary, which we think is the last hope for the common man. I will suggest that the EFCC and other antigraft agencies step in into this matter and carryout there investigations. even though my expectation as it were in the Wester world, is that The alleged Justices and lawyer Kaleijaye even the Governor would have resigned their appointment and allow proper investigation into the matter.
