First Foundation, in partnership with the Lagos state government under the Public Private Partnership, PPP, has installed a Computerized Tomography Scan machine, popularly called CTScan, at the General Hospital, Marina, Lagos. The machine, made by Siemens, is to enable the hospital provide quality and affordable service to patients.

Dr. Tosin Ajayi of First Foundation stated that the machine would provide timely, accurate and reliable diagnosis and is the first to be installed in a General Hospital in Nigeria. Ajayi described the Lagos state government’s PPP programme as an avenue to bring in highly motivated and conscientious private interest into a government health institution with the goal of ensuring seamless access to modern diagnostic tools and patient- oriented service delivery.

Computerised Tomography Scan is an X-ray procedure that combines many X-ray images of the internal organs and structure of the body. It is also used to define normal and abnormal structures in the body and help to accurately guide the placement of instruments or treatment. First Foundation has successfully implemented PPP with both federal and state government health institutions. These include installation and management of a complete Radiology Unit at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu and the Medical Research Institute, MRI, of the Lagos University Teaching University, Idi-Araba, Lagos.
