Cultists strike in the University of Benin, killing two 400-level Law students

By Yemi Obaditan /Benin

On Monday, 27 April, the Faculty of Law at the University of Benin was thrown into mourning, when suspected cultists shot dead two 400 level students– Kelvin and Johnson Ayoola. The two victims, both 25, had just arrived their hostel at Ekodisin after the day’s lectures. They were accompanied by a colleague identified as Anderson.

Information gathered by this medium revealed they were shot by gun-wielding cultists while having their lunch. The killers were said to have demanded that Kelvin, a native of Asaba, hand over his mobile phone. But as he made to bring out the phone, he was shot on the neck and died instantly. They also shot Ayoola in the head. Anderson escaped being hit by fleeing through the window. The cultists later escaped on a motorbike and were said to have left the scene of horror unhurried despite the fact that Anderson raised an alarm. He reported the matter at a police station in Ugbowo.
