Our Church Leaders Who Fail God And The Nation And Betray Their Followers

February 20, 2008 12:29, 275 views
By Apostle Michael Aikhomu

As I traveled the world over a propagating the gospel of the kingdom of God, I came across many Nigerians, and saw all they are passing through in their host countries. Sometimes I shed tears, and sometime I bleed in my spirit that citizens of a nation so blessed like Nigeria could be passing through such ordeal in their host countries.

Average Nigerians overseas are graduates and many of them are doing mundane jobs like street cleaning, domestic, housekeeping and kitchen assistants. I weep for my country.

But so many times, we put the blame on the political class, but I think it is high time we shifted the blame from the political elite and bring it down on our church leaders, who have betrayed their followers, failed the nation and disappointing the order of He who called us as agents of restoration to our nation and generation.

For so many years, church leaders in the U.S.A have played a major role in the political direction of that country. Church leaders in the U.S.A. pray for and give Godly and progressive advice to the political leaders.

In Nigeria, majority of leaders in the legislative, the executive and the judiciary are Christians who attend church. The problem they have is not that they are not doing what is right, but have not seen their leaders living by example; instead their loot is used to support churches without any question from so-called bishops, pastors and other titles. What a shame!

Our treasury looters are given special attention to by our church leaders; they are given special titles in the church. Our looters beats protocols when they come to see man of God for more prayers for more looting and pay their dues.

Many of the ex-governors and others standing trial today for looting gave some of those fund to some of our pastors, bishops and arch-bishops. While they use some bible passage to back their crime against their followers in the nation, they will never remember a portion of the bible where Elisha rejected gold, silver and other gifts from Neman, the captain of the Asyrian army. Anointing oils, hankerchiefs and other spiritual material are paid for, even prayers are paid for. God’s patience is running out, though His mercy endures forever. But it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God, for God is a consuming fire.

While some many have paid with their lives for their love of money, many of their followers have celebrated their death as ascension to glory, sleping in the Lord, coronation and what have you. Many of their followers would be surprised to see the archbishop, bishop, senior apostle, pastor, evangelist and senior prophet in hell on the last day because of money.

We have it on record in the bible where Jesus preached to thousands and fed them, knowing that they were hungry. But today our church leaders are only concerned about what they get from their church members. While some church members are dying of hunger and starvation, our church leaders are busy buying the most expensive Jeeps, Limos and Posh cars and even building mansions.

There are people in our churches who are looking for little sums of money to start-off a business, there are fatherless and motherless people inside the church. We have the weak, the poor and the needy. Those are not the concern of our church leaders, instead they are busy in state houses, luxurious place around the globe with church money.

Many of the armed robbers and militants in our streets today are those who are disappointed by their church leaders. Many are hungry and starving inside the church, many are homeless and when they are not strong in faith, they fall and take to crime for survival. Yet these are no concerns for our church leaders. Their concern is the best suit, cars, house, and in many cases many of their members who started the ministry with them have been skillfully schemed out to enable them take it all without questioning. The end is coming.

We have it on record that the missionaries who came to us with the serving gospel built schools and hospital for use free, some left their pleasure and came over to Africa to help bring development by the light of the gospel. Some died on the mission. But today many of our churches’ private schools are not affordable to the poor, not even the members of the churches who can only afford to send their kids to public schools. There are many grants coming from overseas churches and agencies to our churches. These grants are hijacked by our church leaders and put in their personal pockets. What shall it actually profit them…?

As I write now, there are many children in hospitals who need help; orphans in our streets,  hungry; destitutes who need homes, yet churches have large sums of money in most of our banks today. We often prophecies that Jesus Christ is coming soon. The question is, if Christ comes tonight, what happens to our millions in our account? Will this selfishness, greediness and self-centeredness take us to the presence of His Majesty?

Today many of our church leaders hire security personnel to guard them, yet they preach ‘He will give His angels charge over the redeemed.’ The question is, are the human guards more powerful and defensive than the angels of the living God of host? We now preach one thing and do another thing.

Today, there are no biblical standards in the church. Our excuses are that, that is the way it is done in the western world. For, the fact that it is done in the west does not mean it meets the standard of God.

There are many captives in the church today who claim to be Christians and are held bound to their wicked and satanic church leaders who will never allow their prey to seek the knowledge of the truth for their deliverance.

There are many atrocities going on in the churches. Sometime ago, a man of God was sentenced to death by hanging for murder, and while the sentence was on debate, many men of God supported the sentence. The question, is the one who allows his members to starve and die, who turns on himself, wife and family and the one who commits physical murder, which one is more guilty?

The soul of the nation is crying and we the church have a responsibility to awake and do something. There is a government in place we all can help this government by living by example, helping others, and doing good.By these, we are building a strong and prosperous nation for the next generation. God help us. God bless us and God bless Nigeria.
